PHOENIX (AP) - A 32-year-old Mesa woman has pleaded not guilty in a fatal shooting that police have said may have reflected a desire to be shot by police.

Holly Davis entered her plea Tuesday in Maricopa County Superior Court. She is charged with premeditated first-degree murder and other crimes in the Jan. 16 shooting of Yue Jiang, a 19-year-old Arizona State University student from China.

Tempe police said the victim was shot through her car’s door and window by the driver of another car which had struck Jiang’s car at an intersection.

Tempe police said in a court document that investigators located and questioned Davis. Police said Davis said she might have shot the other driver because she was depressed and wanted to be killed by police.
