OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Republican U.S. Rep. Markwayne Mullin says he’ll join with state lawmakers in Oklahoma City for an event next week designed to raise awareness about veteran suicides.

The event begins on the Capitol steps on Feb. 22 about 10:30 a.m

Mullin’s office says he’ll attempt to draw attention to the 22 veterans who commit suicide every day. Mullin also says he’ll outline the steps the federal government is taking to address the high occurrence of veteran suicide across the county.

Oklahoma State Rep. Dustin Roberts and State Sen. Frank Simpson will join Mullin during the event and talk about the efforts being made at the state government level to help veterans.
