NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The Southern University System says it has a new chancellor for its university in Shreveport.

The school system said in a news release that their board of supervisors Friday named Rodney Ellis to head Southern University Shreveport.

Ellis replaces Ray Belton who was tapped last June to become President-Chancellor of the Southern University System.

Ellis is the former chancellor of Central Louisiana Technical Community College and also served as an executive vice president at Atlanta Technical College in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Southern University System is composed of five institutions in Shreveport, Baton Rouge and New Orleans.
