SPRINGFIELD, Vt. (AP) - The Springfield Winter Carnival is on despite a lack of snow.

Activities take place all day on Saturday at Crown Point Country Club.

The Rutland Herald reports (bit.ly/1Vs8GdB) that the carnival had been rescheduled from two weeks ago and some activities have changed due to the weather. The broom ball tournament and cardboard sled races are now free.

The forecast on Saturday calls for snow and rain.

Carnival spokeswoman Kelly Burton says the cardboard sled races will go on at 10:30 a.m. “no matter what Mother Nature brings.”

There’s also skating on the pond, where the broom ball tournament starts at 1 p.m. The carnival wraps up with fireworks starting at 7:30 p.m. and a bonfire at 8 p.m.

More information is available on the Springfield Winter Carnival Facebook page.
