COLUMBIA HEIGHTS, Minn. (AP) - Authorities say an 18-year-old man wanted in a fatal shooting in Columbia Heights last month has been arrested in northern Minnesota.

The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office says Red Lake Tribal Police arrested Evan Ramon Denny of Minneapolis on the Red Lake Reservation Friday.

The Star Tribune (https://strib.mn/1QJ5I0k ) reports because Denny was taken into custody on the reservation, which is a sovereign entity, Anoka County has started extradition prodecures.

Denny is charged with second-degree murder in the shooting death of Mohamud Adbiwahab Hilowle. The 20-year-old Minneapolis man was fatally shot at a Columbia Heights home on Jan. 23.

Witnesses told police the shooting followed an argument between Denny and the victim over a cellphone.

Denny is also charged with second-degree assault in a separate shooting in Minneapolis a few days earlier.
