PATERSON, N.J. (AP) - A fire at a mixed-use building in northern New Jersey has left eight people homeless.

Authorities say no residents were injured in the fire at the three-story building on Bridge Street in Paterson, which was reported around 5:15 a.m. Saturday. But two firefighters were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Authorities say roughly 40 firefighters battled the blaze, which burned for more than three hours before it was brought under control.

The building’s first floor houses local businesses, including a grocery store, while the second and third floors contain apartments.
