AMSTERDAM (AP) - Poland striker Arek Milik scored either side of halftime Sunday and Davy Klaassen celebrated his birthday with a goal as Ajax beat Excelsior Rotterdam 3-0 to keep pressure on Eredivisie leader PSV Eindhoven.

Feyenoord drew 1-1 with Roda JC Kerkrade to end a disastrous run of seven consecutive league defeats but the match was overshadowed by crowd trouble outside the stadium where police clashed with hundreds of angry fans demanding the club’s leadership quit.

Police tweeted that the supporters were detained when fights broke out and the group was taken to a police station. There were no immediate reports of injuries among police or supporters.

PSV ensured it would stay at least one point clear of Ajax after round 24 by comfortably beating Heracles Almelo 2-0 Saturday night. Davy Proepper and Gaston Pereiro scored first-half goals, allowing Phillip Cocu’s team to relax after the break with an eye on Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid.

PSV totally dominated the first half and would have been further ahead with more clinical finishing.

Cocu said, “It’s a shame we could not convert more chances, but I’m very impressed by my players’ effort.”
