GOODYEAR, Ariz. (AP) - A 14-year-old boy in Goodyear was hit by a car while riding his bicycle and police are searching for the suspected driver.

Goodyear police say the hit-and-run occurred Saturday around 10 a.m. near Estrella and Elliot.

Witnesses told officers that a truck hit the boy as he was entering a parking lot.

They say the truck driver got out and checked on the teen before driving away.

The victim’s family says the teen was thrown 60 feet.

He underwent surgery for a broken leg, broken shoulder, head contusion and liver and kidney damage.

The family says he remains in an intensive care unit.

Police describe the car as a black Chevy Silverado that is between 2008 to 2014 model.
