CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) - A Cambridge police officer has been placed on leave while authorities investigate whether the officer was involved in a hit-and-run crash that injured a bicyclist.

The crash occurred around 8 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Broadway and Portland streets near the Massachusetts Institute of Technology campus.

The bicyclist was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

A police spokesman told WCVB-TV (https://bit.ly/1QytRMX) the officer was off-duty at the time of the crash. No charges have been filed.

Authorities haven’t released the officer’s name.



The crash is under investigation by Cambridge police, the Massachusetts State Police and the Suffolk district attorney’s office.
