HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. (AP) - A manufacturer will open a plant to make aluminum vehicle parts in northern Henderson County next year creating 350 jobs.
Local media outlets report that GF Linamar is investing almost $220 million in the plant that will make lightweight components for cars and other vehicles.
The plant, announced on Monday, will manufacture aluminum powertrain, drivetrain and other components to make vehicles lighter and so use less fuel.
The average annual wage at the plant is projected to be nearly $50,000.
Linamar also employs 200 people at its plant in Skyland.
