PENDLETON, Ore. (AP) - A Morrow County man is accused of kidnapping and assaulting a woman who has been hospitalized with serious injuries.

The East Oregonian reports (https://goo.gl/FSnnMb ) that 44-year-old Travis Lane Thomas entered not guilty pleas to the charges Monday.

Morrow County authorities say they had responded Saturday to a report of a woman covered in blood. Officers arrived to find Heather Payne, who was taken to a hospital with a serious head injury.

Sheriff Ken Matlack says Payne had been staying in a friend’s recreational vehicle in Boardman when Thomas kidnapped her and took her to his home on the same property. The two had previously been in a relationship.

Matlack says Thomas bound the woman’s hands and feet and assaulted her.

He says Payne was eventually able to escape through a window.
