Metro Transit Police confirmed that a man was shot Tuesday afternoon on the Green Line near the Anacostia station.
The unidentified man was shot just before 1 p.m., and medics arrived shortly thereafter, Transit Police said.
The victim is conscious, and the station remains open, with trains single tracking.
A Metro spokesman said details are scant and will be released via the Metro Transit Police Twitter account.
The shooting comes after several months of violence on Metro and highlight a recent spike in violence. In late January, six teens were arrested for allegedly beating a man on the Red Line at the Gallery Place Station, and on New Year’s Day passengers were beaten on a Yellow Line train by a group of young people.
