KING COUNTY, Wash. (AP) - Authorities have arrested a Renton man in connection with striking a Metro Transit bus driver and pulling a knife on a deputy.

The King County Sheriff’s Office said the 38-year-old man hit the driver Wednesday morning as he was exiting the bus in the southern end of the county.

Sheriff’s spokeswoman Cindi West said in a statement a deputy was on her way to the scene when a Metro Transit supervisor who had been following the man flagged her down.

West says when the deputy confronted the man he pulled out a knife and refused commands to drop it. He also allegedly swore at the deputy and said, “just shoot me.”

Authorities arrested him after he was found hiding in the woods.

The man is in jail on investigation of assault.
