LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) - Jamaya Burr hit a jumper with two seconds left in overtime to give McNeese State a 71-69 victory over Nicholls on Saturday.

Burr, who finished with 20 points, had five in the extra period. Burr and Shaun Johnson drilled back-to-back 3-pointers to give the Cowboys a 66-62 lead with 2:19 left in OT.

Nicholls’ Liam Thomas had a layup to tie at 69 with 19 seconds left before Burr hit the winning jump shot.

McNeese State was trailing 59-56 with five seconds left in regulation when Jarren Greenwood drilled a 3-pointer to send it to overtime.

James Harvey had four treys and 17 points for the Cowboys (7-19, 5-11 Southland Conference), as both teams are battling for the eighth and final spot in the conference tournament.

Quinton Thomas had four treys to total 19 points and Liam Thomas added 14 for Nicholls (7-22, 3-12).
