TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) - Chris Fowler scored 20 points and Central Michigan hung on down the stretch to beat Toledo 76-74 on Saturday night.

John Simons finished with 19 points and nine rebounds and Luke Meyer added 12 points for the Chippewas (16-13, 9-7 MAC).

Central Michigan never trailed over the final 9:07 of the game, but likewise never held more than a six-point lead.

Fowler made a layup which gave the Chippewas a 73-69 lead with 2:01 left. Nathan Boothe answered with a 3 for Toledo (17-12, 8-8) which cut it to one. After DaRohn Scott responded with a jumper for Central Michigan, the Rockets trimmed the lead to 75-74 on two Jonathan Williams free throws with seven seconds left.

But Rayshawn Simmons hit a free throw and Stuckey Mosley missed the game-winning 3-pointer to give Central Michigan the win.

Boothe led Toledo with 23 points. Mosely added 17 and Williams had 15.
