ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Shivaughn Wiggins scored 24 points and Coastal Carolina edged UNC Asheville 81-79 on Saturday in the regular season finale for both teams.

Jaylen Shaw added 14 points for the Chanticleers (18-10, 12-6 Big South Conference) who will continue as the third seed in the upcoming conference tournament.

Shaw sank a 3-pointer with 5:06 to go in the first half, sparking a 15-6 run that put Coastal Carolina up 43-29 at the break.

The Chanticleers led throughout the second half and an Elijah Wilson jumper made it 66-57 with 5:43 to play. UNC Asheville threatened late, cutting Coastal Carolina’s lead to one, 80-79, on a pair of Dylan Smith free throws with eight seconds to go but the Chanticleers held on for the win.

Freshman Dwayne Sutton scored a career-high 24 points for the Bulldogs (19-11, 12-6) who will enter the Big South tournament as a fourth seed.
