APACHE JUNCTION, Ariz. (AP) - Pinal County Sheriff’s deputies say a hiker who went missing in the Superstition Mountains has been found dead.

Authorities located the body of the 25-year-old Phoenix man Saturday.

Deputies did not say what may have led to his death.

The man’s mother, who lives outside of the state, told officials her son went hiking Thursday but never came home.

Deputies found his vehicle Friday near a restaurant by Lost Dutchman State Park.

Search and rescue teams from Pinal and Maricopa counties had conducted air and ground searches.

Authorities have not released the man’s identity.
