MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Minnesota is ending February with an early taste of spring.

The National Weather Service says Minneapolis broke a 120-year-old record for the daily high temperature on Saturday. The temperature at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport rose to 56 degrees just after 12:45 p.m., breaking the previous record for this date of 54 set in 1896.

Forecasters say the temperature was still climbing. By 2 p.m., the temperature in Minneapolis had risen to 58.

In northern Minnesota, Duluth was at 50 at mid-afternoon while Bemidji was at 46. Western Minnesota saw some temperatures in the low 60s.

Sunday will be cooler with highs ranging from the mid 20s in northern Minnesota to the low 40s south.
