RICHMOND, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say a man was killed after he was shot several times while driving on a San Francisco Bay Area highway.

The California Highway Patrol says one of the four lanes of Interstate 80 in Richmond remained closed Saturday after the early morning shooting.

The CHP says the incident was first reported around 1 a.m. Saturday and when officers arrived they discovered an SUV had drifted across all lanes of traffic, driven down an embankment and rolled over several times ejecting the driver from the car.

Oakland television stations reports (https://bit.ly/1TFDqbZ) preliminary investigation revealed that an unknown suspect riding in another vehicle drove alongside the SUV and opened fired.

Investigators say they believe that the victim was specifically targeted and that there is no danger to the public.
