STRATHAM, N.H. (AP) - New Hampshire state police say they brought in a K9 to track a driver who fled the scene of a pre-dawn accident.

The accident was reported at 2:19 a.m. Saturday. Authorities say the trooper who responded found a badly-damaged pick-up truck up against a guardrail in the median of Route 101 in Stratham, but no driver was located.

Trooper Dan Livingstone and K9 Veda tracked the driver through dense woods and across a stream. Police say troopers and Veda found 33-year-old Randy Sprague of Epping on River Road in Stratham.

Sprague is charged with driving under the influence, conduct after an accident, reckless operation and criminal mischief. He is in custody and scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Brentwood.

It was not immediately known if he has a lawyer.
