MADISON, Wis. (AP) - The Dane County medical examiner says a woman found dead in her Madison apartment was fatally stabbed.

The office identifies the victim as 24-year-old Christina Hatcher. Preliminary autopsy results show that Hatcher died of “homicidal sharp force injuries.”

The Wisconsin State Journal reports that a search warrant filed Friday in Dane County court says Hatcher had suffered cuts to her heck, and her face and body had been battered.

Hatcher was found dead Wednesday in the apartment she shared with her boyfriend. Police say the boyfriend is the only suspect in her death and is hospitalized with burns.

Officers are looking into whether the man tried to commit suicide. Authorities say the boyfriend was found outside a burning car belonging to the victim on Tuesday afternoon at Reindahl Park.
