HONOLULU (AP) - A University of Hawaii basketball player has been publicly reprimanded by the Big West Conference for “unsporting behavior” in the Rainbow Warriors’ 77-71 loss at home against the University of California, Riverside.

The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports (https://bit.ly/24uqAT7) UH athletic director David Matlin and men’s basketball coach Eran Ganot apologized to UC Riverside and the conference in a statement, saying Hawaii guard Roderick Bobbitt let his emotions get the best of him.

Commissioner Dennis Farrell issued the reprimand. He said in a statement that Bobbitt earned a technical foul for unsportsmanlike behavior in the last seconds of Thursday’s game.

Farrell wrote that after the game, Bobbitt aggressively tried to engage UC Riverside head coach Dennis Cutts as opposing team members shook hands.
