CANONSBURG, Pa. (AP) - Authorities have released the name of an elderly woman found dead in a car that drove into a western Pennsylvania lake.

The Washington County coroner’s office said witnesses saw 71-year-old Sandra Andrews of Washington, Pennsylvania drive her vehicle into Canonsburg Lake about 15 miles southwest of Pittsburgh at about 7:30 a.m. Friday.

Her body was pulled from the lake just after noon Friday. Officials said recovering the vehicle was hampered by the frigid water temperature and a swift current.

The coroner’s office said a ruling on the cause and manner of death was pending further investigation.

Peters Township police chief Harry Freucht (FRIK) says he believes the woman is the same one who tried to drive her car into the lake last week but couldn’t because the lake was frozen.
