DAVIS, Calif. (AP) - Luke Nelson hit two free throws with 2.1 seconds left and UC Irvine escaped with a 62-61 win over UC Davis on Saturday night.

Darius Graham drove the lane and kicked it out to an open Siler Schneider, who hit a 3-pointer from straight away with 18 seconds left to pull UC Davis within 60-59. After UC Irvine was called for a five-second violation, Schneider hit a floater in the lane with 14.3 seconds left for a 61-60 lead.

UC Irvine missed a 3-pointer but the loose ball went out of bounds off of UC Davis with 2.1 seconds left. The Aggies were whistled for a questionable foul on the inbound play and Nelson converted at the stripe.

Graham’s half-court shot at the buzzer hit the front rim.

Mike Best scored 10 points for UC Irvine (22-8, 11-3 Big West), which trails Hawaii (12-2) by one game with two to play. Nelson finished with nine points and eight assists.

Josh Fox led UC Davis (10-17, 5-9) with 20 points, nine rebounds and six assists.
