UNITY, Maine (AP) - Maine’s organization of organic farmers and growers will focus its annual spring conference on soil health.

Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association’s annual Spring Growth Conference is scheduled for Friday in Unity. The all-day event typically focuses on a crop, technique or management practices and this year’s conference is all about soil.

The association says Maine state soil scientist David Rocque will give an overview of the state’s soil diversity. Keynote speaker and soil scientist Ray Weil will give a talk about managing plants for better soils.
