LOGAN, Utah (AP) - People exiting a theater Saturday night were caught in a bear spray experiment emanating from a nearby apartment.

The Herald Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1TfEQf4) 31-year-old Jamey Doshier found a can of pressurized bear spray in the garbage at his apartment, about 100 feet away from the Lewiston Theater.

Cache County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Mike Peterson says Doshier sprayed the can in the air to satisfy his curiosity as to how it worked.

The lingering spray forced people back into the theater lobby. The spray causes coughing as well as burning in the nose and eyes.

Emergency responders treated a handful of people. The Bear River Health Department, law enforcement and hazardous material crews were at the scene.

The county attorney will decide whether Doshier should face legal action.
