COLUMBUS, Ga. (AP) - Police in Columbus are investigating the death of a 65-year-old man found dead in the river that forms the Georgia-Alabama state line.

The Columbus Ledger-Enquirer reports (bit.ly/1QohspE) the man was found late Sunday afternoon face down in the Chattahoochee River behind a building on First Avenue.

Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan identified the man as Larry Lynch. He says Lynch was wearing a T-shirt, gym pants and a medical band from Midtown Medical Center in Columbus.

Bryan said the cause of death was not immediately known. Lynch’s body was to be sent to Atlanta on Monday for an autopsy.
