ROME, Ga. (AP) - An Alabama man has been indicted on vehicular homicide charges stemming from a 2014 crash that killed his mother.
The Rome News-Tribune reports (bit.ly/1OIYcRI) 29-year-old Robert Jefferson Reed Jr. of Dawson, Alabama, was indicted Friday by a grand jury in Floyd County.
Prosecutors say Reed was driving while under the influence of prescription drugs when he lost control of his car and crashed into a creek in northwest Georgia.
Reed’s mother, 57-year-old Jo Ann Reed, was a passenger in the car. She later died from head injuries at a Rome hospital.
It was not immediately known if Reed had a defense attorney representing him.
