AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) - Authorities say an overnight fire gutted a restaurant in Augusta.

The Augusta Chronicle reports (bit.ly/1TN2Iq5) firefighters were called to a blaze at a Macaroni Grill restaurant at about 1:30 a.m. Monday. Hours later, a crew remained on the scene putting out hot spots to ensure the flames wouldn’t rekindle.

Augusta Fire Department spokeswoman Dee Griffin said the fire reduced to the restaurant to “a pile of rubble.”

Authorities say they don’t yet know where the fire started or what caused it. Investigators won’t be allowed into the scene until all hot spots are extinguished.

The restaurant was closed when the fire broke out and no injuries were reported.
