SOUTHINGTON, Conn. (AP) - Police say a hiker found an exploded pipe bomb in the Southington woods over the weekend.

The hiker discovered the bomb around 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Crescent Lake near the base of a tree.

Police say it appears the bomb had previously been detonated and may have been there for up to a year.

Detectives are trying to determine where the bomb came from. Anyone with information is asked to contact Southington police.

Anyone who comes across a device that looks like a bomb is advised to move away from it and call 911.
