BROOKFIELD, Wis. (AP) - Police believe a man who tried to rob a suburban Milwaukee bank may have died later in a car crash.
The attempted bank robbery happened Monday morning in Brookfield, and the car crashed in Greendale, about 10 miles away.
Police are trying to verify the man’s identity, but Brookfield Police Capt. Phil Horter says authorities believe the driver was a 45-year-old man who tried to rob the bank.
Horter says the suspect jumped over a bank counter and fled without any money. The man reportedly had a self-inflicted stab wound that happened during a domestic violence incident earlier in the day.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (https://bit.ly/1XW2lso ) reports it’s not clear if the man was being chased by authorities at the time of the crash.
