NEW YORK (AP) - About 10 people lifted a vehicle off a livery cab that struck and pinned a pedestrian in Manhattan - but the Samaritans’ efforts were futile.
The New York Post (https://nyp.st/1OIi2fI ) says the 77-year-old victim was pronounced dead at a hospital on Monday.
She was struck around 8:30 a.m. at Madison Avenue and East 36th Street.
The driver said he didn’t see the pedestrian as he made a turn at a green light. Police say he was arrested on charges of failing to yield to a pedestrian and failure to exercise due care.
