BRUNSWICK, Ga. (AP) - Tim O’Briant has been named executive editor of The Brunswick News.

The newspaper reported Monday that 46-year-old O’Briant will report to Buff Leavy, president and editor of Brunswick News Publishing Company.

O’Briant said The Brunswick News will soon expand its reporting staff and add more local coverage. He said, “Local newspapers have a responsibility to unearth the truth and lead the conversation with insight and a strong voice on the editorial page. That’s precisely what we’ll do.”

O’Briant comes to coastal Georgia from South Carolina, where he spent more than 15 years in a variety of leadership roles with Evening Post Industries, publisher of the Post and Courier in Charleston. Most recently, he was editor and director of audience for the Aiken Standard, the company’s newspaper in Aiken, South Carolina.
