PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - A developer has submitted plans for a six-story residential building in Portland.

The Portland Press Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1nMlq4i ) the Luminato Condominium would be located in the city’s India Street neighborhood and consist of 26 units of ownership condos.

Prices would range from $200,000 for a one bedroom to around $400,000 for three-bedroom units.

Developer Chip Newell says he hopes the project will be affordable to young professionals and help address the city’s shortage of workforce housing.

He says two vacant three-story apartment buildings on Newbury Street would be demolished.

The $8 million project would be subject to three ordinances, including one that requires new housing developments with 10 or more units to include one unit of workforce housing.
