VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) - A duck that got stuck in netting at a golf course in Virginia Beach was rescued and taken to be checked out before it is released back into the wild.

Karen Roberts, who is with the Virginia Beach SPCA, tells WAVY-TV (https://bit.ly/1KY3CId ) that the duck became trapped in the netting at Topgolf Tuesday morning.

The net is a barrier between the golf course and Interstate 264. The duck, which Roberts says is a hooded merganzer, might have been trying to fly into a pond on the other side of the net.

Workers with Nuckols Tree Care freed the bird. It was taken to The SPCA, and will be freed when it is fit.
