POMONA, Calif. (AP) - A homeless man has been charged with beating and stabbing to death an elderly couple at their multimillion-dollar Southern California home.

Prosecutors say DNA links 23-year-old Luke Fabela to killings that took place the day after Christmas in 2014.

A wealthy businessman, 89-year-old Armie Isom, and 74-year-old Shirley Isom were attacked in their La Verne home.

The killer stole the woman’s cellphone.

Fabela, who served time in San Bernardino last year for car theft, was charged Wednesday in Los Angeles County with murder, robbery and burglary.

Prosecutors haven’t decided whether to seek the death penalty.

It’s unclear whether Fabela has an attorney.
