KALISPELL, Mont. (AP) - A Flathead High School student accused of bringing a loaded handgun to school remains held on $35,000 bond.

The Flathead Beacon reports (https://bit.ly/1o3Z0v1 ) that the 16-year-old student, who is not being identified because he is a minor, remains incarcerated at a Missoula juvenile detention center in connection with Friday’s incident.

Resource officer, Cory Clark, says a school employee had confronted the teen for skipping class when they noticed the student smelled of alcohol. The teen was taken to an administrator’s office where he allegedly admitted he had been drinking and that there was a bottle of wine in his backpack.

Administrators say they searched the bag and found the loaded gun.

The teen had allegedly stolen the weapon from a family member and told police he planned on selling it.
