EDGARD, La. (AP) - Prosecutors say a 51-year-old LaPlace man has been found guilty of second-degree murder for the 2013 shooting death of Anthony Young in a Reserve bar.

The St. John the Baptist Parish District Attorney Bridget Dinvaut said in a news released received by NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune (https://bit.ly/1R1HanW) Kenneth Hicks will be sentenced on Feb. 22.

The 12-person jury convicted Hicks of second-degree murder recently following a three-day trial in Edgard before ad hoc district Judge Michael Kirby.

Prosecutors say Hicks fatally shot 34-year-old Young on Feb. 20, 2013 at Alex’s Sports Bar in Reserve.

Second-degree murder in Louisiana carries a mandatory life imprisonment at hard labor without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence.
