KALISPELL, Mont. (AP) - Libby Mayor Doug Roll and five current and former City Council members have filed a lawsuit against the Montana Commissioner of Political Practices.

The Flathead Beacon reports (https://bit.ly/1SEWlDq ) the suit filed last week alleges that Jonathan Motl unfairly targeted Roll and five councilors when he accused them of supporting a lawsuit against mayoral candidate Allen Olsen in 2013.

Then-city attorney James Reintsma had filed a lawsuit against councilman Olsen, saying Olsen couldn’t run for mayor because he didn’t live in Libby.

A judge ruled in 2014 that Olsen did live in the city at the time of the election.

Motl determined in May 2015 that Reinstma, Roll and the five council members had violated election laws.

In their petitioners’ suit, the group claims they never directed Reintsma to sue Olsen.
