TULSA, Okla. (AP) - Nearly four years after a pregnant 19-year-old was fatally shot in her car in north Tulsa, a man that fathered her first child has been charged in the case.

The Tulsa World (https://bit.ly/1PUzgO0 ) reports that 26-year-old Kenneth Lee Hopkins is charged with two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the June 2012 slaying of Marshay Wesson.

Assistant District Attorney Erik Grayless says charges weren’t filed sooner because prosecutors didn’t think there was enough evidence without witnesses. Grayless says there is now enough information through cell phone records and circumstantial evidence.

Hopkins is currently serving time at the federal prison in Leavenworth, Kansas, after pleading guilty in 2013 to charged alleging his involvement with a federal conspiracy involving multiple robberies.

It was not immediately clear if he has an attorney.
