BURLINGTON, N.C. (AP) - Police in Burlington are investigating the shooting death of a man found on a street corner.

Sgt. Neil Doss said in a statement that officers were called to the intersection shortly before 11 p.m. Tuesday.

Forty-one-year-old Samuel Scoggins Jr. was taken to Alamance Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators said Scoggins had been shot in the chest.

Assistant Chief Chris Verdeck said officers have not identified a suspect. He says officers are still trying to determine a motive in the shooting.
