GRAHAM, N.C. (AP) - A Burlington man suspected of shooting at an Alamance County sheriff’s deputy while running away from a traffic stop has been arrested.

In a statement, the sheriff’s office tells media outlets that 26-year-old Bradley Bryant was arrested Tuesday. Bryant faces multiple charges including assault on a law enforcement officer with a deadly weapon.

Authorities say the deputy was conducting a traffic stop around 11:50 a.m. when Bryant exited the car and ran. Authorities say the deputy chased Bryant, who allegedly fired a single shot as the deputy approached.

Authorities say at that point, Bryant either dropped or threw the weapon.

Sheriff’s office spokesman Randy Jones says another deputy later tackled Bryant, who was taken into custody.

Bryant was being held on bond. It isn’t clear if he has an attorney.
