LAS VEGAS (AP) - Eight prominent immigration activists from Nevada are endorsing Hillary Clinton for president.

The DREAMers include Astrid Silva, who was brought to the country illegally but later got deportation relief under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. She introduced President Barack Obama when he came to Las Vegas in 2014 to rally for a similar deportation relief program for people with children who are American citizens or legal residents.

Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid frequently highlights Silva’s story in discussing immigration issues.

Silva and five other activists met with Clinton for a roundtable discussion in Las Vegas in May 2015.

She was quoted in a statement from the campaign Wednesday saying Clinton was the only candidate who understood how to get things done in the face of Republican obstructionism.
