PHOENIX (AP) - A retired Phoenix police officer saved his 84-year-old neighbor from a burning house.

Gentis says he grabbed the woman under her arms and dragged her through the window.

Phoenix Fire spokeswoman Ardell Deliz called Gentis a “true hero.”

The woman was taken to a hospital in stable condition for smoke inhalation. Gentis was not injured.
