ALAMO, Tenn. (AP) - The National Weather Service says a tornado touched down in Crockett County during a storm that barreled through Tennessee.

The weather service said on Twitter that the tornado touched down Tuesday, creating a track 3 to 3½ miles long and 75 yards wide. Several buildings at Crockett County High School were damaged. Officials said four or five homes also were damaged, but no deaths were reported.

Tuesday’s storm also caused problems in other parts of Tennessee. In Chattanooga, heavy rains led officials to close flooded roads and left some vehicles stranded in high water. Officials on Wednesday were monitoring the water level of South Chickamauga Creek.

Officials said a driver had to be rescued Wednesday when SUV was swept into a flooded creek in Cheatham County.
