WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) - The former treasurer of a Massachusetts youth hockey organization who was convicted of stealing funds will serve three years behind bars for not paying his court-ordered restitution.

The Telegram & Gazette reports (https://bit.ly/1md4GBz ) 52-year-old Roger Lee was sentenced Tuesday after admitting he hasn’t been making monthly payments to the Ashburnham Westminster Youth Hockey Association.

Lee had requested probation but Assistant District Attorney John O’Leary recommended prison time.

The Leominster resident pleaded guilty in May to embezzling $28,712 from the association while serving as volunteer treasurer. He paid $10,000 in restitution at that time.

Lee was sentenced to five years of probation and ordered to pay no less than $150 a month toward his debt to the organization.
