OPELOUSAS, La. (AP) - St. Landry Parish deputies say a woman and two boys have been arrested in the death of a 14-year-old, whose body was found in a wooded area near Melville.

Sheriff’s Capt. Clay Higgins tells multiple news outlets that Travon Edwards was shot once. His body was found Friday.

Police arrested 33-year-old Twanda Washington on a charge of obstruction of justice and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.

Higgins says a 12-year-old boy was arrested on a charge of negligent homicide, and a 15-year-old boy was arrested on a charge of obstruction of justice. Higgins said both juveniles will be held at a juvenile detention center.

Higgins says the slaying remains under investigation. Authorities have not released a motive.
