LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. (AP) - Authorities have seized more than 500 pounds of marijuana found inside a U-Haul truck in Gwinnett County.

The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office says in a news release that it discovered the marijuana, valued at about $1.2 million, on Tuesday afternoon when investigators got a tip about a suspicious vehicle driving in the Lawrenceville area.

Authorities say a Lawrenceville police K-9 detected narcotics in the vehicle, prompting a search. Inside the vehicle, investigators found 427 packages of marijuana, weighing a total of 504.3 pounds.

The driver, 46-year-old Suwanee resident Mark A. Spaziano, and passenger, 48-year-old Sugar Hill resident John A. Edney, were arrested and charged with trafficking in marijuana. It is unclear whether they have attorneys.
