BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - The killing of a former University of Vermont student remains unsolved more than a year after he was found dead in his Burlington apartment.

The Burlington Free Press reports (https://bfpne.ws/1VQIDwx ) local and federal authorities are still searching for clues in the slaying of 23-year-old Kevin DeOliveira. He was found in his apartment in January 2015 after family members didn’t hear from him.

Police have said the killing was likely tied to drugs. An autopsy determined he died of a single gunshot wound to the head.

Police Lt. Shawn Burke says they hope to have a resolution in the near future and the killing wasn’t random. He says there’s no threat to the public.
