LAS VEGAS (AP) - The head of the Downtown Grand casino-hotel in Las Vegas is stepping down after only eight months on the job.

Vegas Inc. reports (https://bit.ly/1TGxGiB ) that the casino announced Wednesday that CEO Jim Simms is leaving. He was named to the position in June.

In a statement, the resort said Simms completed his one-year plan in less time than expected. He had been hired on a single-year contract.

Simms was hired to help expand the Grand’s gaming operations and expanding resort offerings. Under his tenure the Grand introduced tiered rewards and changes to the casino floor.

Before coming to the Grand, Simms was president and general manager of Miami Valley Gaming in Ohio.
